HISTORICAL NOTES

1979

Establishment of KGR s.r.l. for the marketing of MIG, MAG and TIG welding machines and materials, with operational headquarters in Turin.

1980

Extension of marketing for machines, Wemi Italia plasma cutting, arc welding torches for robots and related accessories, Tecnomecc robotic islands, Simfor resistance welders and related automation.

1985

Transformation of the company from a commercial to an industrial enterprise for the manufacture of welding equipment, based in Brandizzo (Turin).

1990

Development of activities for the manufacture of welding clamps, overhead stations, and standard fixed welding machines equipped for the automotive sector.

1991

Strengthening of the technical department and company organisation with the aim of supplying turnkey assembly lines.

1994

Development of “hot blade” technology for welding plastic components, resulting in the supply of automatic lines for fuel tank assembly.

1995

Achievement of ISO 9001 certification.

2001

Establishment of the Electronic Systems Business Unit specialising in the development of engineering activities related to on-board electronic systems, based in Turin.

2003

  • Development and patent application for indirect projection welding technology on stapled moving parts (cosmetic welding).

2004

Development and patent application for electromechanical stapling unit for moving car parts

2005

Development and patent application for induction heating and indirect welding station for moving parts

2006

  • Development and patent application for a robotic indirect projection welding system for moving parts
  • Development and patent application for indirect projection welding bugna sized for special applications on moving parts 

2007

  • Development and patent application for induction heating station for pre-polymerisation of structural perimeter adhesive (stapled perimeter) and semi-structural central adhesive for car bonnets (simultaneous heating process)

2008

  • Italian patent obtained for indirect projection welding technology on stapled moving parts (application submitted in 2003)
  • European patent obtained for electromechanical stapling unit for moving car parts (application filed in 2004)
  • change of company name from S.r.l. to S.p.A.

2009

  • Development and patent application for a modular welding clamp that can be converted from manual to robotic use and vice versa.
  • Development and patent application for an electro-hydraulic machine for forming corrugated pipes in vehicle fluid connections.
  • Participation in the POLIMAG project as part of the 2007–2013 ERDF Regional Operational Programme with the aim of obtaining high-performance materials for new polymeric nanocomposites in the field of high-performance polymers – metal replacement.
  • Italian patent obtained for electromechanical stapling unit for moving car parts (application filed in 2004)
  • Italian patent obtained for induction heating and indirect welding station for moving car parts (application filed in 2005)

2010

  • Participation in the European MAGBOND project as part of the MANUNET TRANSNATIONAL CALL 2010 to develop innovative technology for the assembly/disassembly of non-metallic industrial components, using electroactive nano-structured adhesives.
  • European patent obtained for indirect projection welding technology on stapled moving parts (application filed in 2003)
  • European patent obtained for induction heating and indirect welding station for moving car parts (application filed in 2005)
  • Italian patent obtained for robotic indirect projection welding system for moving parts (application filed in 2006)

Relocation due to expansion of the operational area at the current headquarters in Brandizzo (Turin)

2012

  • Development and patent application for a special projection welding clamp for nuts, bushings and screws intended for manual or automatic use.
    Development and patent application for a forced cooling system for moving parts after induction heating to prevent deformation caused by process heat.
  • Participation in the European EVOLUTION project under the 7th Framework Programmeth Framework Programme with the aim of developing an environmentally friendly electric vehicle using innovative lightweight materials
  • Italian patent obtained for modular welding gripper that can be converted from manual to robotic use and vice versa (application filed in 2009)
  • Italian patent obtained for electro-hydraulic machine for forming corrugated pipes in vehicle fluid connections (application submitted in 2009)

2013

  • Development and patent application for multi-stage pneumatic cylinder for use on manual and robotic welding clamps
  • Development and patent application to reduce the effects of magnetic fields derived from manual welding clamps on the human body

2014

  • Development of a project for an automatic system for the rapid selection and conveyance of screws, nuts and bushings to be interfaced with MWM series projection welding machines.

2015

  • French patent obtained for electro-hydraulic machine for forming corrugated pipes in vehicle fluid connections (application filed in 2009)
  • Italian patent obtained for mould holder assembly for corrugated pipe forming (application submitted in 2012)
  • French patent obtained for mould holder assembly for corrugated pipe forming (application filed in 2012)
  • Italian patent obtained for special projection welding clamp for nuts, bushings and screws intended for manual or automatic use (application filed in 2012)

  • Introduction of the SAP ERP system to coordinate and manage all areas of the company.
  • Development and patent application for stapling connecting elements onto flexible pipes.
  • Participation in the European FlexHyJoin project* as part of the Horizon 2020 Programme to develop a mixed laser, induction and process control assembly system for hybrid materials, replacing metal ones, with the aim of reducing weight, improving time and cost efficiency and increasing fastening strength.

2017

  • Obtained Italian patent (later extended to other countries) for spot welding clamp for suspendable resistance (application filed in 2010).

2020

  • Obtaining Italian patent (later extended to other countries) for projection welding clamp for fixing a piece, such as a bushing, onto the surface of a sheet metal element, and welding system that includes it.

2023

  • Patent obtained for equipment for crimping connecting elements on flexible pipes (application submitted in 2017)

  • Development and implementation of a motorised engine dismantling line complete with pre-washing and washing system.

  • Development of a laser engine cleaning system that allows users to achieve better results while significantly reducing risks to their health and the surrounding environment.
