DIRECT PROJECTION WELDING
FOR AESTHETIC METALLIC SURFACES

As Technical Book Nr. 1 discusses and provides information pertaining to Indirect Projection Welding (please refer for further information), Book Nr. 2 will cover Direct Projection Welding. This process is applied when one of the two sheets must not exhibit any visible imperfection or deformity, once the welding process is complete.

It is mainly used in the automotive industry, and in the household appliances - in which, for “partially visible” sheets, specific instructions and requirements must be followed, in order to meet customer satisfaction.

To perform a direct projection welding it is necessary to obtain, on one of the two sheets to weld, a specific protrusion, in relation to the normal plane of the sheet itself. This must be performed by means of a moulding operation.

Only the obtained protrusion (on the not visible metal sheet) will be fused and amalgamated into the second sheet (the visible one), by utilizing the well known direct resistance projection welding.
